Embroidery Passion
The Mad Woman of Locke Street is my husband's nickname for me.
We live on Locke Street (a small tourist area in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, full of little antique shops, restaurants and bars). I work out of my 'Lab' as he calls it in the loft.
Trained as a graphic artist, I was a partner in a very successful catering business for 14 years!!! (yes I know... go figure!!)
I reached a point where I was fed up with getting up at 4:15 am every day. Then my partner became very ill, (now recovered thank God) and we decided it was a sign to pack it in. What to do??
The Embroidery business I decided, that's it!! I bought the machine, and started to look for designs.
I couldn't find what I wanted.
I became a Grandmother, and wanted to make everything for my
first baby granddaughter,
(the first of five beautiful grandchildren)...
I still couldn't find what I wanted. So I started to design.
The idea for my web site was beginning to creep into my brain. How to start? I was completely
computer illiterate, it seemed insurmountable. My old business partner's son very kindly and
patiently came to the rescue. It took us a year.
Then November 2004,
The Mad Woman of Locke Street
was born. It has evolved into a site for
unique personalised gifts for babies, framed birth keepsakes of hierloom
quality, bamboo baby blanket sets and much more.If you are into stamping,
there is a section for stamps, inspired by some of the embroidery
designs. We have unique greeting cards ,again inspired by the embroidery
designs.This site is ever evolving.
Now, in order to speed up the delivery process
of designs, a new site has been developed that concentrates
just on Embroidery,
Mad Woman Embroidery.
All the designs on this site are
instantly downloadable, with freebies in ten different formats.

Both my Husband and I have a rather
warped sense of humour, and we were coming up with tee shirts as
gifts for friends, using the equipment that I already had. This site
is the natural way for us to go. It will start small ,but as the
ideas come we will add to it. |
